Reffing experience: Three years

On becoming a ref: "I enjoy playing soccer and being around soccer, but it was also a way to meet new people in the process. The money is just a bonus I get from being around soccer."

Jamie Giacinto

Age: 13

School: Pineview Middle

Team: Soccer, volleyball, basketball at Pineview

Position: Defense

Reffing experience: First season

On becoming a ref: "I wasn't playing soccer (at CPUSA), but I still wanted to be around soccer. I'm not regretting not playing, but I want to be out here around it, plus it's a bonus getting paid for it."

Sierra Monday

Age: 15

School: Land O'Lakes

Teams: JV girls soccer, U-15 Spartans

Position: Midfield

Reffing experience: Firstseason

On becoming a ref: "I really love soccer, but I don't have another team to play for since club ended, but I wanted to help out with the (little) kids. That's what I like to do: help out the kids."

School: Sunlake

Teams: Varsity, JV boys soccer, U-14 Spartans

Position: Goalkeeper

Reffing experience: Four years

On becoming a ref: "Becoming a ref was helpful. It helped me learn the game better - made me a better player. It's not a bad gig and I just like being out here for the games."
