Gators improving
The Land O'Lakes wrestling team is taking baby steps. At least that's how coach Brent Coleman sees it. Coleman, who wrestled for the Gators until he graduated in 1998, said his team is improving every day, but still is trying to learn all there is about the sport.
"Things are going as planned so far," Coleman said. "They're in the practice room every day and they want to blow it out. So I have to, and I'll quote Pasco coach Mark DeAugustino here, 'I have to tighten the reins a bit. Hold them back.' I want them to improve their technique, then I'll really crack the whip and make them work."
Land O'Lakes took six to the inaugural Solomon Classic at Central on Saturday. The Gators finished eighth out of 12 teams, but Brian Scalise (130 class) and Justin McKay (112) each made the finals. Gulf took the title, while Mitchell finished fourth, Sunlake seventh and Zephyrhills 11th.
