BROOKSVILLE

Bethlehem Progressive Baptist Church, 661 S Brooksville Ave., will host its first Gospel and Youth Explosion for ages 8 through adult beginning with a dinner at 4 p.m. Dec. 1. The program afterward will include five groups in concert: Chozen, God's Creation, Provision, the GWOC Dance Team and the Bethlehem Inspiration Dance Team. The Christ Lutheran Church choir, 475 North Ave., will present Arcangelo Corelli's Christmas Cantata from his "Concerto Grosso-Opus 6, No. 8" at 7 p.m. Dec. 5. Admission is free. The baroque masterpiece will be conducted by Julie Hooten. Keith Schenck will play the organ. Call 796-8331.
Lakewood Retreat Cafe is now open from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays for families or groups to eat and enjoy fellowship. Lakewood Retreat, 25458 Dan Brown Hill Road, is a 119-acre Christian camp and retreat center on Lake Hancock owned and operated by the Southern Mennonite Camping Association. It offers lodging and camping of all types, meeting rooms, a dining hall and activities, including canoeing, swimming, sports fields, tennis, basketball and human foosball. HUDSON
St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 7922 State Road 52, will host Lunch and Learn from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 4. The program, "Navigating the Medicare Maze - Medicare vs. HMOs," will be presented by the Visiting Nurse Association. A light lunch will be served. Donations are welcome. RIDGE MANOR
Ridge Manor United Methodist Church, 34350 Cortez Blvd., will host the Allen Frizzell family in concert at its food pantry fundraiser at 6 p.m. today. The Nashville family will sing after a dinner of soups, sandwiches, salads, sweets and drinks is served beginning at 4 p.m. Monetary donations at the door will help stock the church pantry, which distributed 390 pounds of food to 33 people at it's opening in September. SPRING HILL
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2301 Deltona Blvd., will celebrate its patron, Saint Andrew, at 6 p.m. Friday with the "Blessing of the Tartan," followed by a buffet supper and Scottish country dancing by the Sarasota and Dunedin Scottish Dancers. The cost is $6 per person. The church is also hosting a fish fry at 5 p.m. Dec. 5 that will cost $8 per person. The dinner will be followed by a program by the Rev. Bruce W. Gimbel, chaplain of Jericho Road Ministries. The ministry has a men's shelter and plans to soon open Mary's House, a shelter for women. Call 683-2010.
Spring Hill Baptist Church, 3140 Mariner Blvd., will welcome the Talley Trio in concert at 10:50 a.m. Dec. 2. The Talleys have a progressive sound that combines Southern gospel with praise and worship, hymns, and other styles in close-knit harmonies and powerful vocals. An offering will be collected. Spring Hill Bible Church, 15449 Spring Hill Drive, will present Dinner and a Christian Movie beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The event is free. The film this week will be The Printing, about churches in Russia and the difficulty some of them experienced in obtaining a Bible. Call 544-5644.
