Past films or TV shows featuring Tarpon Springs or its immediate surroundings include:
Savannah Point, between Lake Tarpon and Keystone, outside of town, has been used to replicate a neighborhood in Cleveland.
Beneath the 12-mile Reef (1953)
A movie starring Robert Wagner, Gilbert Roland and Peter Graves. It was based on a real conflict at sea between spongers from Tarpon Springs and Key West.
Stavro: A Spiritual Journey, later retitled To Kill a Lawyer (1999)
A semiautobiographical film produced by Tarpon Springs attorney Steve Stavrakis, who retrieved the Epiphany cross in 1980.
In 2003, a film crew shot scenes for a documentary about infamous jewel thief Jack "Murph the Surf" Murphy, above, in an office overlooking the Sponge Docks.
The Punisher (2004)
A comic book action movie starring John Travolta, shot scenes at Matt Geiger's mansion on Keystone Road, just outside of town.
