Last week, against the Atlanta Falcons, Ronde Barber made the Tampa Bay Bucs' first defensive touchdown of the season. When No. 20 is not busy on the field, he writes children's books with his twin brother, Tiki Barber. Their fourth book, Kickoff!, was released in October by Simon & Schuster.

What is on your nightstand?

I'm reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.

You know that's popular among women's book clubs, right?

Well, it's a great story. I just finished In the Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant. I enjoyed her Birth of Venus, so I read this as well. But generally, I've always been a big reader of fantasy. . . all the Harry Potter books, the Dune series, and I enjoyed Amber Spyglass and Golden Compass by Philip Pullman.

Would you recommend Golden Compass to kids?

Definitely not to younger readers. It's for someone who is comfortable already in their religious beliefs.
