Parade, tree lighting scheduled for Saturday

Treasure Island -- Treasure Island's holiday parade and tree lighting ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 1) at the Treasure Island Community Center and Park, Gulf Boulevard at 106th Avenue.

The parade starts at Treasure Bay, 10315 Paradise Blvd., and goes down 107th around the Clock Tower to the community center.

After the parade, children can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the center and join Santa and Mayor Mary Maloof in the lighting of the city's holiday decorations. Refreshments, face-painting elves and shows follow.

Santa's Mailbox is open Dec. 3-14; Santa will personally answer letters from boys and girls who drop off or mail letters to his mailbox in front of City Hall, 120 108th Ave. Call 547-4575.
