Pasadena church presents Caroling concert on dec. 9

Pasadena Community Church Music Ministry will present its "Here We Come A' Caroling" Community Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 in the sanctuary, 227 70th St. S, St. Petersburg.

Choirs, ensembles and instrumentalists will perform new arrangements of 18 beloved carols, using organ, piano, synthesizer, handbells and chimes. There will be a guest flutist and percussion. The concert will be available on CD at the performance for $5. Admission is free.

The church also is presenting, in conjunction with the Salerno Theatre, The Journey, a musical theater program that tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ through the eyes of a modern-day child and his skeptical mother.

The performances are Dec. 13, 14 and 15. There will also be a Live Nativity at each performance beginning at 7 p.m.

Jewish Center plans Dec. 4 extravaganza

Chabad Jewish Center of Greater St. Petersburg will hold its fifth annual Chanukah Extravaganza, Light up the Night at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at South Straub Park.

Civic and community leaders will attend the ceremony and assist in kindling the giant menorah.
