Pinellas: Sunday morning quarterback

Offensive player of the week
Leonard Johnson, Largo

The ultimate escape artist, Johnson routinely eluded Dunedin defenders, scoring on runs of 6 and 15 yards and buying enough time with his feet to find Reggie McCray on a 29-yard touchdown pass. Those three scores were more than enough as the Packers cruised in a 31-0 win.

Defensive player of the week
Mike Lang, Largo

The Packers came up with several big plays in posting their fifth shutout of the season. Mike Lang's play, though, was the biggest. The junior defensive back caught a pass that tipped off the hands of Dunedin receiver Mike Towns and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown to put Largo ahead 28-0.

Second-round playoff notables

Brynn Harvey, Largo: The senior, who rushed for 94 yards, gained the tough yards inside to set up Johnson's two scores on the ground.

Adaris Bellamy, Dunedin: He had a game-high 161 yards on 23 carries in a losing effort against Largo.

Mike Marry, Largo: The junior linebacker forced and recovered a fumble early on to set the tone for the Packers defense.

David Grazione, CC Catholic: He had three receptions for 99 yards, including one for a 48-yard score in Friday's loss to Frostproof.

Daniel DelGuidice, Largo: He blocked a field goal against Dunedin and has been a force through the playoffs.

Jared DiMaggio, Keswick Chr.: He rushed for more than 100 yards, including a 23-yarder on the Crusaders' opening possession that set up their only touchdown.

Tarvin Jones, Keswick Chr.: He caught his fourth touchdown of the postseason on a 5-yard reception from Jared Stacy.

Next week's game
Class 5A, Region 3 final

Cape Coral (10-2) at Largo (12-0), 7:30 p.m.: This is the second time the Packers have made it to the region final. They lost to Bradenton Manatee in the same round in 2005. Largo's defense has posted five shutouts this season. Cape Coral's offense has scored at least 20 points in 10 of its 12 games.
