On Saturday, Santa Claus is in, fresh food is out.

The annual Santa Parade will be held along Central Avenue near Bayshore Drive starting at 10 a.m. For nonfoodies, that's where the weekly Saturday Morning Market is usually held.

David Cellon, market manager, said city officials asked the market to shut down for one day to accommodate the Santa Parade's new location. The parade was held along First Avenue S in 2006.

The Santa Parade, which is hosted by Washington Mutual and the St. Petersburg Lions Club, is an 80-year tradition. The event features marching bands, floats, food, and, of course, the jolly fat man in red himself.

For more information about the parade, call (727) 525-5950.

The Saturday Morning Market returns on Dec. 8.
