Gulf Highlands Elementary: Science Fair meeting, 6 p.m. Thursday.
Hudson Middle: Holiday book fair, through Dec. 7. Family Night in the media center, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Activities include HMS Players Readers' Theatre presentation of Mr. Scrooge's Christmas, followed by Michelle Lott's portrayal of author, Laura Ingalls Wilder with Christmas on the Prairie. The book fair will be open.
Marlowe Elementary: Parents to Kids workshop, 9 a.m. Dec. 5.
Schrader Elementary: Student of the Month celebration, 8:30 a.m. Friday. Math Parent Workshop for grades K-4, 6 p.m. Friday.
Schwettman Education Center: Family Holiday Dinner, 11:30 a.m. Dec. 7.

School music/theater/art events
- The Children's Fall Art Festival and Holiday Joy Event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey.
- High school students in and around Pasco County are welcome to audition for the Pasco Education Foundation's Ticket to Broadway. Auditions will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre, Grand Boulevard, New Port Richey. Audition using the material you plan on using in the show. Performances are 8 p.m. Feb. 1 and 2 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3. Corporate sponsorships are available for $300. Money raised funds scholarships for students in the performing arts. Contests/scholarships
- Monday is the deadline for area high school students to enter the "Being an American" essay contest sponsored by the Bill of Rights Institute. More than $60,000 will be awarded to students and sponsoring teachers. For guidelines, go to www.BeingAnAmerican.org.
