BROOKSVILLE - Last season, Wesley Chapel looked like a one-player wrecking crew as Sthefany Thomas worked her way toward a record-breaking season.
This season, without the now-graduated star, the Wildcats have a far more balanced attack.
It was that attack that did in Central 74-44 on Tuesday night as Wesley Chapel continued its fast start.
Central (0-2) countered with an amazing performance from senior captain Ronisha Browdy. The starting guard finished with a game-high 20 points including shooting 5-of-6 from 3-point range.
On the other hand, Wesley Chapel (5-1) had four players who scored in double figures, with Caitlin DeBoer leading the way with a team-high 18. DeBoer also had eight rebounds, second only to starting center Janelle Mills, who had nine.
"Caitlin has always been able to attack the basket with a lot of energy," Wesley Chapel coach Warren Jones said. "It's important for us to stay aggressive inside to be successful."
The game started slow on both sides, as the Wildcats maintaining an 11-9 edge midway through the first quarter. From there, Wesley Chapel went on a 20-0 run and held a 36-16 advantage by halftime.
The other Wildcats to round out the 30-point rout were Cree McIver (12 points), Ashley Carey (11), Desiree Vizcaino (11) and Mills (eight). Vizcaino and Carey each contributed a team-high four assists.
