Charges against ex-trooper dropped
Prosecutors have dropped two charges of lewd and lascivious exhibition against former Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Danny Bowers. When Bowers was arrested in July, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office would say only that accusations had been made by two females younger than 15. But the girls changed their stories in a deposition two months ago, according to defense attorney Robert Attridge Jr. "They completely recanted their testimony that they were in any fashion sexually abused or hurt by Danny Bowers," Attridge said. Bowers, 41, first entered the public eye six years ago when he lost his job as a trooper. According to the Highway Patrol, Bowers botched four major crash inquiries, drove with a suspended license and told the Times he had an affair with a woman under investigation for DUI manslaughter. The Pasco-Pinellas State Attorney's Office could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
