Brandon man faces 10 years for knockoffs
A Brandon man pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to selling knockoffs of Cartier and Rolex watches, Louis Vuitton handbags and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Jason B. Register is facing up to 10 years in prison. His sentencing date is scheduled for Feb. 15. He remains free on bail until then. Federal officials filed a complaint against Register in December 2006 for trafficking in counterfeit goods. He offered replicas on faux luxury goods through his Web site, www.exquisite-styles.com. Cartier International took him to court in May 2006, asking a judge to issue a restraining order barring Register from selling anything resembling a Cartier product.
