ST. PETERSBURG - The thunderous roar through parts of St. Petersburg this morning will be that of an expected 2,000 motorcycles involved in the 20th annual Jim Rosenkrans 20th Anniversary Memorial Toy Run.

The ride starts at 10:30 a.m. at Jim's Harley-Davidson, 2805 54th Ave. N, and proceeds southeast to Haines Road and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N, east to First Street NE, south to 22nd Avenue N, eastward along Coffeepot Boulevard, and south on North Shore Drive to Fifth Avenue NE and Vinoy Park.

The route continues south along Bayshore Drive to Second Avenue NE, then eastward to the Pier, and riders will reverse the route back to Jim's. The Snell Isle Bridge will close temporarily to accommodate riders, St. Petersburg police motor Officer Bob Jones said.

The ride, which is named for the late founder of Jim's Harley-Davidson, is a benefit for Toys for Tots.

Late registration is 8 to 9:30 a.m. today; bring a new, unwrapped toy, or a $10 donation. Those who bring four canned-food items will receive commemorative pins. Jim's will offer free food and entertainment until 4 p.m. today.
