Holiday boat parades

Tierra Verde: Lighted Boat Paradee_SEmD Wednesday. Begins at 6:30 from Pass-a-Grille Channel, passes under the Tierra Verde bridge, heads south along the east side of Tierra Verde, then returns by the same route to Pass-a-Grille Channel. Best viewing is from the Tierra Verde bridge or the vacant lot next to Billy's Stone Crab. For information, call 458-8512.

St. Pete Beach: Holiday Boat Parade and celebration - Saturday. Begins at 5:45 p.m. at Merry Pier, Eighth Avenue and Pass-a-Grille Way, and goes north along the Intracoastal Waterway through Boca Ciega Bay to St. Pete Beach Yacht and Tennis Club, 94th Avenue and Blind Pass Road. A holiday celebration at Merry Pier begins at 5:15 with hot chocolate, a visit from Santa and a blessing of the fleet. Call 363-2144 or 347-4171.

Boca Ciega Yacht Club: Annual Christmas Boat Parade e_SEmDSaturday. Begins at 6 p.m. and circles the Gulfport Marina at 6:15 p.m., passes in front of the Gulfport Pier at 6:30 p.m., arrives at the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club at 7:15 p.m. and returns to the Boca Ciega Yacht Club at 8 p.m. The parade will not go into the Maximo and Broadwater canals this year. St. Petersburg: Annual Lighted Boat Parade e_SEmDSaturday. Begins at 6:30 p.m. at Bayboro Harbor and heads north. Best viewing is from the Pier and along the Vinoy Basin. The parade is part of holiday festivities starting at 4 p.m. at the Pier. Call 821-6443 for information.

Indian Rocks Beach: Seeking participants for Boat Parade e_SEmDDec. 15. Indian Rocks Beach seeks participants for its 21st annual holiday lighted boat parade. Redington, Indian Shores: Boat Parade and Holiday Party e_SEmDDec. 16. The lighted boat parade will begin at the Tom Stuart Causeway in Madeira Beach at 5:45 p.m. and head north through the Intracoastal Waterways in the Redingtons and Indian Shores. Holiday music and refreshments will be served at 7:30 p.m. in the park behind Town Hall as boats arrive. The parade will end at the Pub Restaurant in Indian Shores about 9 p.m. Parade participants can register by submitting an application to the town of Redington Shores. For information, call 397-5538.

I can not believe that the Boca Ciega Yacht Club could be so narrow minded to exclude the Maximo and Broadwater Canals this year. I guess it is more importand to let very few people at the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club enjoy the delights.
