The Clearwater Lawn Bowling Club, 1040 Calumet St., kicked off the first tournament of the 2007/2008 season with an exceptionally good turnout of 32 teams competing in mixed pairs, coming from as far away as Mount Dora, Sun City and Sarasota. Congratulations go to Charles and Lenore Roach, first-place winners. The club is recruiting new members and offers free lessons and use of club equipment for beginners. For information, call Rick at 727 934-8707 or the clubhouse at (727) 442-5329. *** The Kiwanis Club of the Palm Harbor Area will present an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast including sausage, coffee, milk and orange juice from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2757 Alderman Road, Palm Harbor as part of the school's "Breakfast With St. Nicholas." All proceeds will benefit St. Luke's preschool program *** The Knights of Columbus, Dunedin Council 5635, 1251 San Christopher Drive, is seeking new members. All are welcome to a New Year's Eve party, featuring a two-entree dinner choice, music, dancing, cash bar, hats and horns for $10 per person. Reservations are required by Dec. 22. For information, call (727) 787-3344. *** Open to the public, a flag retirement ceremony will be held to properly dispose of all torn, tattered, worn and otherwise unserviceable American, Canadian and POW/MIA flags at 4 p.m. Saturday at AMVETS USS Cole Post 67, 1825 N Highland Ave., Clearwater. Commander James Leahy will be assisted by former Florida American Legion 16th District Commander Sherman Lawson and Royal Canadian Commander Post 144 Gordon Bennett. Flags can be dropped off at the post home between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Call (727) 631-0067 for information. *** The GFWC Woman's Club of Tarpon Springs will present its holiday luncheon Dec. 12 at Cypress Run Golf Club, 2669 St. Andrews Blvd., Tarpon Springs. Doors for the luncheon open at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon. Entree selection choices are pork tenderloin, filet mignon or ruby/rainbow trout. The Syndicated Sounds from Tarpon Springs High School will provide entertainment. A request from the Cops 'N Kids Program goes out to attendees asking for donations of holiday gifts for older children (no stuffed animals, please). Cost is $25.
