Friday forecast calls for fun, snow and ice

For a little of the north country in North Pinellas, visit Oldsmar's Christmas Wonderland from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at R.E. Olds Park, 107 Shore Drive W. Slip, slide or sled down slopes of snowy ice. Ride a pony, bounce on inflatables or get your photo taken with Santa. Miss Suda's Dancers will perform The Grinch at 6 p.m. and the Hammerhead Dulcimers will play old-time holiday music from 7 to 8 p.m. Admission and parking will be free. Bring a chair or blanket. Historic library will open for book sale

The historic Oldsmar Public Library, 101 State St. W, will reopen one more time so the Friends of the Library can sell books from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Call (813) 749-1178.

Mail Santa Claus a letter at City Hall

Santa's mailbox has been activated for the holiday season. Children are invited to drop a letter in the big red mailbox in front of City Hall, 100 State St. W, by Dec. 20. Santa will take time out from supervising toy production and gift wrapping to answer letters that include a return name and address. Call (813) 749-1260.

Synagogue plans Menorah Madness

Celebrate Menorah Madness at 6:45 p.m. Friday at Congregation B'nai Emmunah, 3374 Keystone Road. Bring a menorah, five candles and a vegetarian dish to share. Students in the religious school will give a Hannukah presentation and there will be a Shabbat Hannukah service. Call (727) 938-9000.

Scouts, take a shot at merit badges

Attention, Boy Scouts: The Brooker Creek Preserve is offering scouts a chance to earn either the archaeology or the soil and water conservation merit badges. The two sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Brooker Creek Preserve, 3940 Keystone Road. Preserve staff will lead activities designed to help scouts meet the requirements of either badge. The sessions are recommended for boys 11 to 17, and scouts must be accompanied by an adult or scout leader. The cost is $5. To register, call (727) 453-6800.

Talk gives options for MS patients

The North Pinellas MS Self Help Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 2675 Tampa Road. David J. Pancake breakfast helps Kiwanis Club

The Kiwanis Club of the Palm Harbor Area will serve all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and orange juice from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2757 Alderman Road.
