The Pasco-Hernando Community College Veterans Club honored Veterans Day and military veterans by holding a Veterans Day Flag Ceremony on Nov. 8 by the flagpole outside of building A at PHCC's New Port Richey campus.
Guest speakers included PHCC drafting and design program instructor Jack Plant, a retired U.S. Army colonel. The River Ridge High School Junior Air Force ROTC and the Ridgewood High School Junior Naval ROTC performed. Musical performances included Ridgewood band member Paulo Claudio, the PHCC Chamber Singers and PHCC student Darrin Seamster. A reception was held at the Quista Caf to conclude the event.

Creation Station is a reuse center that serves all of Pasco County and is located on 20430 Gator Lane in Land O'Lakes. Students, school employees and residents working with non-profit groups can take advantage of recycled free materials that are either surplus or gently used, but in good condition. Rachel Surrency, Pasco County's recycling coordinator; Karen Bryant, recycling coordinator for Resource Recovery of Pasco County;and Kathy Ross. The finance assistant at Creation Station, have organized the center filled with games, computer parts, desk and office accessories, yarn, patterns, wallpaper, books, luggage tags, glass bottles, pine cones, fabrics, craft materials, audio tapes and many other items donated by local businesses and civic groups. Creation Station is open the first Thursday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. For information, call (813) 794-2752.

The Alzheimer's Family Organization held its seventh annual Charity Golf Tournament at Beacon Woods Golf Club, Clocktower Parkway, Bayonet Point on Nov. 3. The event consisted of 18 holes of golf and included a continental breakfast, with lunch provided by Argento's Italian Bistro, Hudson. Prizes were awarded to the top teams, longest drive and closest to the pin. Over $24,000 was raised to provide services for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their families in the Pasco County area. The organization thanks event chairman Bob Toland; Irene Thompson and BobTiller from Full Circle Financial of New Port Richey; Frank Mancuso of United Auto Glass; Ed Czwerwinski; Joe Wybierala; and the many volunteers who made this day possible.
