Wrestling: Ridgewood star takes home crown

EAST LAKE - Dean Stupar started the East Lake Invitational with three pins, but it was a decision in his final match Saturday night that captured all the glory.
The Ridgewood wrestler ended the tournament with a 7-4 victory over top-seeded Cory Montefort of Sarasota, and Stupar was crowned the champion in the 112-pound weight bracket. He was one of two Ridgewood wrestlers who placed. Allyn Williamson was sixth at 135 pounds.
In the 171-pound final, Jessey Lorentsen of Mitchell lost to Danny Miller of Dunedin 14-7, but still took second place. Mitchell had five wrestlers who placed in the event, including two who went head-to-head with fellow Pasco County foes in the consolation finals.
In the 112-pound bracket, Anthony Biondo of River Ridge got a decision over Anthony Ayers of Mitchell for third place. At 215 pounds, Ryan Cassidy of Mitchell got a decision over Josh Soto of River Ridge 15-8 for third place.
Tyler Fleming of River Ridge took fourth place at 119 pounds, and Anthony Colello of River Ridge won fourth at 285 pounds.
Miami Southridge High won the tournament with 231 team points and had 12 wrestlers place, including three champions.
Countryside was second with 209 points but had the most individual champions with four: Dalton Dennis at 103 pounds, Tyler Parry at 135 pounds, Eric Deupree at 140 pounds and Dustin Incorvia at 160 pounds.
Mitchell finished ninth with 106 points, River Ridge was tied for 10th with 99 points and Ridgewood was 20th with 51 points.
