Members of the Seminole High School marching band spent most of last weekend at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

The two-day stay was a working vacation as the band was taped for its part in the upcoming Walt Disney World/ABC Television Christmas Day Holiday Special. The show will air at 10 a.m. Dec. 25 on WFLA-Ch. 8.

The 150-member group was the only high school band asked to appear. Band director Daniel "Chip" Wood said he accepted the invitation, thinking "it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the kids and program."

Then, Wood said, ABC decided it wanted an open audition for bands across the country.

"We had to submit a DVD of the band plus a resume/portfolio of the marching band/band program," he said. "We then were notified in late July that we were the band selected."

The Warhawk Marching Band performed in the 2005 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif.
