Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide at 14511 Valor Circle in the Breckinridge Apartments complex near USF.
The victim has been identified as Wesley Aaron Bonham, 28.
Each apartment in the complex is made of up four units with a shared common space, but none of the roommates in this unit knew each other well, according to Debbie Carter, a spokeswoman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
One roommate returned home at about 6 p.m. Friday to find blood there, and called the Sheriff's Office.
Detectives gained entry to the apartment about 1 a.m. and discovered Bonham, who had suffered trauma to the upper torso. They ruled the death a homicide.
Bonham's rental car is also missing.
The car is a 1998 Honda Accord, black or dark blue, with an Oklahoma license plate reading 484CJI.
