Man wanted in marijuana raid gives himself up

SPRING HILL
The resident of home at 9107 Spring Hill Drive that police raided Tuesday morning surrendered to police late Tuesday. Orestes Fonseca Amador, 46, faces charges of cultivation of marijuana, grand theft and theft of services, according to an arrest report. The electricity at the residence, which was rigged to steal power to operate the lights at the so-called grow house, was in Amador's name. He told authorities the 74 marijuana plants seized from the home were his, reports state. Two other homes on Chamber Court also were raided.
Funeral service tonight for teen
Friends and well-wishers are invited to pay their respects tonight at a funeral service for Grant Aleo, 15, who died Friday after the car in which he was a passenger was involved in an accident at Powell Road and California Street, police said. Services begin at 7 p.m. at Northcliffe Baptist Church. Donations in his memory can be made to the Grant W. Aleo Trust Fund at Wachovia Bank, 1510 Pinehurst Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34606.

Wever playground closed for upgrade
Hernando County Parks Department will close the playground at Ernie Wever Youth Park on Monday to replace all equipment. The park is at 19473 Youth Drive, off Ponce de Leon Boulevard. For information, call the Parks Maintenance Department at 754-4154.
