Brown selected to all-century team Former Hernando star Jerome Brown was named to the Florida High School Athletic Association's all-century football team as part of the organization's celebration of "100 Years of Florida High School Football." He was one of 33 players selected by position. The 1982 graduate was a star defensive lineman, an All-American at Miami and went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1987-91, where he became an All-Pro while notching 291/2 career sacks during five seasons in the NFL. Brown was killed in June 1992 in a car accident. The team will be honored during halftime of Friday's Class 5A state title game at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
