Yes, the Beastie Boys and Iggy Pop got snubbed again, but Madonna was finally issued the word Thursday that Her Madgesty would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The other four honorees - John Mellencamp, The Ventures, Leonard Cohen and The Dave Clark Five - should make for some interesting on-stage collaborations. The ceremony is slated for March 10 in New York.
Overpaid celebs
Forbes loves to do lists of which celebrities make the most or have the most power. Its latest bit of number-crunching is a bit meaner: The Most Overpaid Celebrities. As in, which actors get paid the most - yes we are looking at you, Jim Carrey - but rake in the least. For each dollar he got paid, Russell Crowe's movies averaged $5 of gross income, making him the worst earner on the list. Nicole Kidman, despite her fashion sense and her Oscar, can't seem to find a crowd-pleasing project, averaging just $8 of gross income, the same as Carrey and Will Ferrell.
Tony hearts Eva, really
Tony Parker is not a cheater. He issued a press release saying so. Eva Longoria, his tiny hottie, agreed that claims by a French model that she had an affair with Parker in September is not true. Alexandra Paressant made the allegations in an interview with celebrity gossip Web site X17. "I love my wife," the San Antonio Spurs star, 25, said in the statement from Longoria's spokeswoman, Liza Anderson. "She's the best thing in my life, and I have never been happier." Says Longoria: "Tony has been nothing short of the perfect husband."
Foster out of closet?
It's no magazine cover with, "I'M GAY," plastered on it, but the cable news stations are taking Jodie Foster's mention of "my beautiful Cydney" in a minor awards show acceptance speech as her coming-out-of-the-closet party. "Cydney," would be Cydney Bernard, the woman who has long been reported to be Foster's life partner. CNN.com is running a video entitled, "Jodie Foster thanks gay partner," in which entertainment correspondent Kiki King goes on at length about the actor's decision to come out as a lesbian based on those three words.
Miley Cyrus expands tour
Miley Cyrus, the tweener generation's Elvis, will extend her hugely popular concert tour with 14 more performances in January - three in Florida. The 15-year-old Disney Channel star and daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus has one of the hottest concert tours of the year, with all 55 shows selling out in minutes and scalpers getting four to five times the tickets' face value. Tickets for the new shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Walt Disney Records spokeswoman Maria Kleinman said. The Florida dates include Jan. 28-29 in Orlando, Jan. 30 in Jacksonville and Jan. 31 in Miami.
