Crist begins push for tax amendment

ORLANDO
From a three-bedroom home for sale since July on a dead-end street, Gov. Charlie Crist on Friday started his campaign to get voters to approve the constitutional amendment on the Jan. 29 presidential primary ballot.
The amendment would double the homestead exemption from $25,000 to $50,000, not including school taxes, and place a 10 percent assessment cap on all properties.
It also would provide "portability" of the existing 3 percent assessment cap on primary homes - so residents could pay taxes on new homes similar to those paid on the place they left.
BOCA RATON
Reward offered for killer of mother, child
This affluent city is offering a $350,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the killings of a mother and her 8-year-old daughter found dead in their car outside a mall.
Security guards at Town Center mall found the bodies of Nancy Bochicchio, 47, and her daughter, Joey Bochicchio-Hauser, in their car just after midnight Thursday.
The victims were bound and shot to death, said Boca Raton police Officer Sandra Boonenberg
