The Clearwater Horseshoe Club, in Clearwater's Ed Wright Park, 1326 S Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, has received a plaque for 30 consecutive years of horseshoe pitching in sanctioned leagues from the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and is one of the original 13 clubs still active today. The club will host the Florida State Horseshoe Pitchers Association Tournament April 23-26, 2008. For more information about the club and its activities, call club president Ron Deckard at 813 884-2932. * * * The Island Estates Yacht Club congratulates all 52 boat entries in this year's Memorial Holiday Boat Parade on Dec. 8. First-place winners in each category were: - Sailboats: Anton Hopen on Anna Lea. - Power boats under 30 feet: Tom Tafelski on Sea Hunter. - Power boats over 30 feet: Bill Snyder on Runningbare. The overall winner was Michael F. Yagmin on Main Squeeze. * * * The Knights of Columbus, Dunedin Council 5635, is seeking new members who share the organization's principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Kiwanis members who cooked, served and cleaned up were Bob Book, Bud Stein, Chuck Winscott, Carl Heifetz and daughter Jodee Buckley, Royal Eckstein, Donna Jiles, Marty Bretthauer, John Burnham, Duane Young, John Papuga and John Kiker. Providing cleanup service were teen volunteers Jiliana Schmidt of Berkeley Prep and Steve Iacuone of Palm Harbor University High School. Kiwanis chairwomen Lisa Hatch and Tera Funair were assisted by Rose Granitz, Beverly Pizzano, Bonnie Faucher, Christi Stanziani, Amy Reiman and Karen Messineo. * * * Special Olympics of Pinellas development director Lindsay Ames will speak at the next meeting of the Rotary Club of East Lake Sunrise at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at Tarpon Woods Country Club, 1100 Tarpon Woods Blvd. in East Lake.
