Ellen Haas owned and operated Dolphin Card and Candle gift shop in Largo Mall for five years. She recently moved the business to 2700 West Bay Drive, Belleair Bluffs, and renamed it Home Scentsations. She lives in Seminole and moved to the area seven years ago from Hamburg, Germany. Home Scentsations includes bronze and copper marine life sculptures by noted California artist Donjo, a large collection of candles and accessories, Blue Sky Clayworks ceramics, fairy figurines, Sandra Magsamen Messages from the Heart ceramic plaques, Willow Tree angels, La Tee Da effusion and oil fragrance lamps, holiday gifts, handcrafted jewelry, music boxes and crystal sculptures.

Why did you decide to relocate?

I wanted better working hours, and I wanted the business to be more personalized and specialized. I wanted to get away from the mall hours and days. I was working seven days a week, and I have a daughter at home and want to spend more time with her.

Why did you change the name of the business?

The new name better describes the business. Home Scentsations is a play on words, scents and sensational things for the home. It's about how to make your home feel and smell good.

What do you like about your new space?

It's like a little house with the chandelier and French windows. It has a relaxing, small-town feeling. I have more time to chat with customers and actually get to know them.

What are some of your most popular items?

The La Tee Da fragrance and effusion lamps, the WoodWick candles that make the sound of a crackling fire and the Blue Sky Clayworks ceramics.
