Mahon places second in 1,500-meter race walk

Mary Mahon of Trinity took second in the 1500-meter race walk at the Florida Senior Games state championships.
Mahon, competing in the 70- to 74-year-old division, finished in 12:27.31.
Jack Mahon of Trinity finished the 1500-meter race walk in 12:16.09. He was competing in the 75- to 79-year-old division.
Tennis: Jean Nichols of Zephyrhills won gold with Roy Nyren of Boca Raton in the mixed tennis doubles.
The duo competed in the 70- 74-year-old division.
Billiards: Roland Jacques of Zephyrhills and Lawrence Wheeler of Sarasota won in billiards in the 65- to 69-year-old division.
Basketball: Linda Lintz of Brooksville racked up the awards in basketball. Competing in the 60- to 64-year-old age division, Lintz took first in the timed field goal shooting with 86 points.
She finished second in free-throw shooting with 18 buckets. Lintz took third in the spot field goal shooting with four points.
New class: Jazzercise is now offering classes at the New Port Richey Recreation Center. Jazzercise blends aerobics, yoga, Pilates and kickboxing movement into fun dance routines set to fresh new music.
All fitness levels can safely and easily participate as both high- and low-impact options are taught.
Classes are held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5 to 6 p.m. Fridays and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays.
Speedway news
The first part of the Winter Spectacular VI wrapped up in early December at Citrus County Speedway.
Part two will kick off the 2008 season and will be held Jan. 19. The second session will feature a 75 lap Super Late Model race plus a Figure 8 50, Mini Stock 50, Pure Stock 50 and 4 Cylinder Bomber 50.
The regular season will open Feb. 2.
