Services are planned to honor homeless

COUNTYWIDE

The Pinellas County Coalition for the Homeless will coordinate a series of interfaith memorial services Thursday and Friday to remember those who have died while homeless. The 30-minute services will include music, eulogies and sacred readings. Free hot meals will be served after each service so homeless people, advocates, service providers, community leaders and others can share a meal together in the memory of those who died. The service times are:

- 4:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 812 E Tarpon Ave., Tarpon Springs.

- 11 a.m. Friday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, 820 Jasmine Way, Clearwater.

- 6 p.m. Friday at the Pinellas Hope tent city, 5726 126th Ave. N, in unincorporated Pinellas south of Ulmerton Road.

- 6 p.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul, 401 15th Street N, St. Petersburg.

DUNEDIN

Evening of art to benefit fire victims

An evening of music, refreshments and an auction from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Dunedin Fine Art Center will benefit the artists of the Imago Art Group who recently lost their work in a studio fire. The auction will feature donated art works and all proceeds will benefit the artists' group. A $20 admission is suggested. Take a walk with a ranger in the park

See plants and wildlife in their natural habitat on guided walks with Florida Park Service rangers at Honeymoon Island State Park at 11 a.m. on Saturdays. The walks are free, however, there is a park entrance fee of $5 for two to eight people in a vehicle, $3 for one person in a vehicle and $1 for walkers or bicyclists. Need help with holiday wrapping?

Members of Daughters of Italy Lodge 2825 are wrapping holiday gifts for charity at Books-a-Million, 33550 U.S. 19 N, Palm Harbor, now through Christmas Eve. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. except Christmas Eve when the hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will benefit the organization's efforts to provide scholarships and raise money to fight Alzheimer's disease, cancer and Cooley's anemia and a scholarship program. Honor homeless Come on folks maybe we could waste taxes payer money and get a statue of a homeless man and place it in William park or maybe we can name the park after the homeless. There is always naming a street after them.

Why honor the homeless. What have they done to be honored for anything.
