Cote ties for fourth in teen golf event

Matt Cote shot 74-76 for a 150 total to finish tied for fourth in the Florida Junior Tour event at Lake Jovita for 13- to 15-year-olds recently.
Dustin Dingus shot 77-77 for a 154 total to finish 10th. Dingus also had a hole-in-one on the 14th hole in the first round.
Belles & Beaus: Rick Hilton, Betty Allen, Chris Reid and Ed Foote scored 50 8 under par to beat the old low score of 51 and record the lowest score during Belles & Beaus league play last Wednesday.
Betty Allen was closest to the pin among women on No. 2 and Ron Martin was closest to the pin among men on No. 6.
The league is held every Wednesday from 8:45 a.m. to noon at Quarry Golf Course in Brooksville.
The cost is $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers, which includes lunch, prizes, 18 holes of golf with a cart in the scramble format-blind draw league. Call (352) 544-5485 for information.
Rotary tournament: Jay Pingley, Doug Ferris, Boyd Brown and Vince Speakman won the first gross flight with a score of 57 in a recent Rotary tournament held at the Brooksville Country Club.
Eddie Looper, Trey Crawford, Bill Blair and Jim Jenson scored 50 to win the first net.
Jerry Sheffield, Jerry Merritt, Art Carroll and Joe Rey scored 51 to win the second net.
Go play: Sea Pines Golf Club holds an open scramble Monday, Friday and Sundays.
Teams are set according to skill level, and players of all abilities are encouraged to play. The scramble starts at 9:30 a.m. during the weekdays and 8:30 a.m.
New league: Every Friday at the Quarry Golf course, there will be two-person teams, best ball.
Sign in by 2 p.m. and tee off at 2:30 p.m. in this nine-hole, best-ball league. Carts will be used. Bring a partner or be matched up. Call (352) 544-5485 for details.
For fun: Timber Oaks Golf Club will be offering hayrides during the holiday season.
Cost is $2.50 for adults and children 3 and under are free. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Rides go from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
