U-11 Flames shut out opponents on soccer pitch

The Wesley Chapel U-11 Flames traveled to the Oldsmar Outlaws and dominated with a 5-0 win. The Flames were able to score three goals in the first 10 minutes.
Bronson Strampel scored on a pass from Grant Tinberg, Connar Lufkin got a second chance goal on a rebound by the Outlaws goalie and Tyler Palmer scored on an assist from Strampel.
Felix Oliva broke free for a late goal to push the lead to 4-0 at the half.
In the second half, Zeke Hall, Martin Ozores and Eric Pitton all stepped up on midfield to limit Oldsmar's scoring chances. Strampel scored his second goal on a pass from Oliva. J.T. Spana relieved starting goalie Austin Moore, who played 15 minutes at fullback and helped preserve the 5-0 shutout.
The Flames head into the holiday break in second place in their division at 5-1-1.
Lacrosse: The Wesley Chapel Athletic Association has opened registration for boys and girls lacrosse.
The association has lacrosse programs for all ages from first through 12th grade. WCAA Youth Rec Lacrosse for elementary school students runs Friday nights beginning Feb. 1. WCAA Warriors competitive lacrosse for middle and high school students begins Feb. 8.

Wrestling: The World Class Wrestling Club has begun practicing at River Ridge High School, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey. The club is open to all elementary and middle school-aged kids. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Registration is a one-time fee of $100, which includes a USA Wrestling membership card, club T-shirt, and wrestling shoes.
