From Bucs coach Jon Gruden
On what happened in the second half.
"They got us with a surprise onside kick to start the second half. We turned the ball over deep in our territory. We squandered numerous opportunities in my opinion. But I'm proud of our football team. We asked a lot of guys to play today."
On the performance by tight end Jerramy Stevens.
"I thought Jerramy Stevens really stepped up. He's a guy that, as we entered the playoffs, we're going to need. I think a lot of things are behind him now, and I think we all see he's a very good football player who could help us."
On the arm injury to Maurice Stovall.
"I don't know if it's broken, but it doesn't look good. That's a big target, a big loss for our team."
On the Bucs' possibly losing momentum heading into the playoffs.
"That's TV announcers talking about that. We've got a lot of momentum. It's very hard to disagree with everybody that you should win your last two games if you can, and we tried (Sunday). ... I'm more concerned with finishing the season playing better football than we did in the second half today."
From 49ers coach Mike Nolan:
On the 49ers defense.
"We've had three games in a row where I think the defense has stepped up and done an outstanding job. Minnesota, three weeks ago, is a team that just pounds the ball. And the next week we came back and played one of the best passing teams in the league (Cincinnati). And then (Sunday) I thought they did a great job as far as the overall game."
On quarterback Shaun Hill:
"It's important that you're the same guy every day. That's not just personality, but that you're the same player every day. (Sunday), Shaun faced a little big of adversity that he has not. Now he's got 10 quarters where he's played pretty good football."
On defensive tackle Bryant Young:
"He's a unique person on and off the field, in the community, as well as with his family. If he does anything different (as far as retiring), obviously we'd miss him.."
On the special teams:
"I thought the special teams did an outstanding job as they have done every week. Joe Nedney's onside kick was instrumental in taking a possession away from our opponent. It looked like that's what it came down to in the end."
