County accepting advisory volunteers
Panel members will focus on arts, health care and substance abuse.

The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications from people interested in filling four unexpired terms on the Fine Arts Council, one effective until Dec. 31, 2010, and three effective until Dec. 31, 2011.
The purpose of the Fine Arts Council is to promote the arts and to support groups associated with the arts in Hernando County.
In addition, county commissioners are accepting applications from individuals interested in filling an unexpired term on the Citizens Ordinance Advisory Team until Dec. 31, 2009.
The purpose of the COAT is to review existing county codes and ordinances, and make recommendations to the board that will benefit the community.
In addition, county commissioners are accepting applications from individuals interested in filling a layperson position on the Substance Abuse Policy Advisory Board. Terms on the board are indefinite.
The SAPAB serves as the primary body for coordinating drug abuse efforts undertaken with funds provided by the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988.
County commissioners are also accepting applications from individuals interested in filling vacancies on the Health Care Advisory Board. There are six vacancies:an institutional medicine industry representative, a health care consumer, a managed care representative, a postsecondary education representative, a long-term care industry representative, and a nonprofit health care provider representative. All terms are through Dec. 31, 2009. There also is a vacancy for a community health organization representative, effective until Oct. 17.
The purpose of the Health Care Advisory Board is to act in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners with regard to health care matters.
Applications for all positions listed above are available in the County Administrator's Office, 20 N Main St., Room 460, Brooksville, or by calling 754-4002. Applications must be returned to the same address no later than 5 p.m. Jan. 22.
Applicants must be residents and registered voters in Hernando County. These are voluntary, unpaid positions.
