New Year's closures

These business and government offices will be closed Tuesday, in recognition of New Year's Day:

- Hernando County libraries, all branches (all libraries will be closed at 5 p.m. Monday and all day Tuesday)

- Hernando County government offices

- THE Bus and Trans-Hernando public transportation

- Supervisor of Elections offices

- U.S. Postal Service

- Local banks

- Hernando County Sheriff's Office

- Hernando County public schools (closed through Friday; school restarts Jan. 7)

- Hernando County Recreation Department

- Hernando County Northwest Waste Management Facility, East Hernando and West Hernando Transfer Stations

- Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce

- Department of Children and Families

- Pasco-Hernando Community College (closed now through Tuesday)

- Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative

- Southwest Florida Water Management District

- Brooksville Police Department offices

- Brooksville City Hall

- City of Brooksville Sanitation Division: Tuesday's dumpster pickups will be on Monday; Tuesday's residential pickups will be on Wednesday; Thursday and Friday pickups will be as regularly scheduled.

- Waste Management: Tuesday's residential pick-ups will be on Friday. Tuesday's residential recycling pick-ups will resume on Jan. 8.
