Vice president of operations, Newland Communities' FishHawk Ranch and Lake Hutto communities
Tom Panaseny comes to Newland Communities, a San Diego builder with Tampa operations, from the St. Joe Co., where he was a senior vice president and general manager. Panaseny won the first State of Florida Secretaries Environmental Award and also has won the Planning Commission Award of Excellence. Before returning to Tampa, he was a board member of the Gulf County Habitat for Humanity. Panaseny earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of South Florida.
Scott C. Weliver
Tampa office manager, MACTEC Engineering & Consulting
Scott C. Weliver has joined MACTEC Engineering & Consulting, an Alpharetta, Ga., engineering firm with operations in Tampa. Weliver is a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and his previous military experience includes serving as inspector general of the U.S. Military Academy and deputy director of the U.S. Military Academy Bicentennial Task Force. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the U.S. Military Academy and a master's degree in environmental engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Society of Military Engineers and works on Habitat for Humanity homes.
