Garcia chosen as Bucs MVP

TAMPA - Vagabond veteran Jeff Garcia wasn't really looking for another change of address.

But when the 37-year-old quarterback signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent - his fifth team in as many years - it was the Bucs who made the biggest move in the standings.

Taking Tampa Bay from worst to first in the NFC South, Garcia passed for 2,440 yards with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions to lead the Bucs to a 9-7 regular-season record.

On Sunday, he was a unanimous choice for Most Valuable Player in a vote of writers who regularly cover the team.

"He's the reason for our success this year," receiver Ike Hilliard said of Garcia. "The guy has been unbelievable."
