Coach Gary Anders and the 9-1 Rams host this two-day basketball shootout, which tips off this afternoon and runs through Friday. Ridgewood is the top team in the field, but 9-2 Newsome and 8-5 Freedom are also worth checking out. Today's games: 1:30 - Sunlake vs. Gaither, 3 - Newsome vs. Archbishop Carroll Miami, 4:30 - Wiregrass vs. Oldsmar Christian, 6 - Zephyrhills vs. Central, 7:30 - Ridgewood vs. Freedom. Friday's games: 1:30 - Newsome vs. Hernando, 3 Sunlake vs. Freedom, 4:30 - IMG vs. Oldsmar Christian, 6 - Ridgewood vs. Archbishop Carroll, 7:30 - Wiregrass vs. Gaither
Wildcats soar
Wesley Chapel's girls basketball team has broken out to a 15-1 record, thanks to a balanced effort. The Wildcats' lone loss was a 52-44 setback to Sickles on Nov. 23. Since then, Wesley Chapel has won 11 straight entering tonight's game at heavily depleted Pasco.
The Wildcats are led by three players in double figures: Ashley Carey (11.8 ppg.), Caitlin DeBoer (10.9 ppg.) and Cree McIver (10.3 ppg.).
