Divorce care seminar kicks off on Jan. 20

A Divorce Care program will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays, starting Jan. 20, at Christian Church in the Wildwood, 10051 Country Road.
Divorce Care is a 13-week video seminar that features 32 well-known experts on divorce.

Arc of Nature Coast dinner needs sponsors
Sponsors and auction items are needed for the Arc of the Nature Coast's annual Awards Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser, on Jan. 27 at the Brooksville Elks Lodge 2582, 14494 Cortez Blvd.
The social hour will be at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Awards to be presented include: corporate support, community relations, media support, outstanding program supporter, outstanding volunteer and personal achievement.
Entertainment will begin after the installation of new Board of Directors. The silent auction will continue throughout the evening.
Tickets are $10 each there is no cost to Arc members and their immediate family. A cash bar will be available.
Table sponsorships are $50. Silent auction items can include a gift certificate or products from area businesses or organizations.
The Arc is a nonprofit organization that provides programs and support for developmentally disabled Hernando County residents and their families.

Two dance shows set for Slovene club
The Slovene-American Club will host the following events:
-Bobby Kravos and his band, 7 to 10:30 p.m. Jan. 19. Kravos, who is a nephew of Frank Yankovic, will perform polkas, waltzes and a variety of other music. Tickets are $10. Food and refreshments will be available. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
-Two-day Winter Dance, 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 26 and 2 to 6 p.m. Jan. 27. The dance will feature the music of the Frank Moravcik Band from Cleveland, and will include polkas, waltzes and a variety of other music. Refreshments will be available. Tickets are $10 per day or $8 for both days. Tickets available at the door.

Elks to put on musical variety show Jan. 12
A dinner show featuring the Red Hot Jubilee Jam musical variety show will be Jan. 12 at Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520, 9135 Denton Ave. Dinner will be at 6 p.m., and showtime is at 7:30.
The show includes tributes to Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley, Judy Garland, Lucille Ball and New York City.

Ribbon cutting for VA clinic expansion Friday
U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite will participate in the ribbon cutting from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday for the second expansion of the Brooksville VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic.
The expansion gives another 1,100 square feet to the clinic for additional examination and treatment rooms.

run, walk set at chinsegut nature center
The 12th annual Chinsegut Run and Fun Walk will be Feb. 16 on the Chinsegut Nature Center grounds, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, north of Brooksville.
Packet pickup and late registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The 5K run will start at 8:30 a.m. and the1-mile fun walk will start at 8:35 a.m.
For the 5K, handcrafted awards will be given to the overall male and female winners, top masters male and female and the top three finishers in each age division, male and female. For the fun walk, awards will be given to the top three people identifying the most flagged natural plants on the walk.
The entree fee is $12 for the 5K and $10 for the fun walk if paid by Feb. 8. The cost after Feb. 8 is $15 for the 5K and $12 for the walk. Checks are to be made payable to the Wildlife Foundation of Florida.

Winter art show opens with Jan. 16 reception
A reception for the City Hall Art Gallery's Winter Exhibit will be 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 16 at 201 Howell Ave.
The Hernando County Fine Arts Council will provide refreshments. Visitors will be able to meet the artists.
The exhibit, which runs through Feb. 12, features displays by the Hernando Quilters, Suncoast Ship Model Society, Spring Hill Camera Club and a new selection of poetry by Just Poets members; paintings by artists Tony Caparello, Glenna Cofran, Shirley Jacobson, Barbara Kerr, Alberto Juliano, Jessica Miller, David C. Roland and LeAnn Steen.
On loan is a painting by Mexican-American muralist Oscar Romaro, courtesy of Telma Ott. Also, wood artisan Ray Pope has a display of his furniture creations.

Dolls, bears focus of show at Fairgrounds
The Brooksville Woman's Club will sponsor the fifth annual Collectible Doll and Bear and Accessories Show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St.
Applications are available for table rentals. The cost is $30 for the two days.

Training for alzheimer's caregivers
The Alzheimer's Family Organization will offer an Alzheimer's Caregiver Day - Information and Training from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at Atria Evergreen Woods, 7030 Evergreen Woods Trail.
Topics to be discussed include Alzheimer's disease, personal care, behavior management and safety.
The cost is $10 for AFO members and $15 for nonmembers, which includes refreshments, lunch and a certificate of attendance.

Challenged riders show needs sponsors
The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association's Region 5 Challenged Show will be Jan. 26 at Fannin Hill Farm, 29495 Wildlife Lane. The opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m.
Riders with physical and mental challenges from five states, including Florida will be participating, including students in the Arc Nature Coast POSSE therapeutic equestrian program.
Sponsors are needed for the following: trophies and ribbons, lunches for participants, feed and stalls for the horses, gift certificates and equestrian-related items for door prizes and raffles. All donations, including any monetary amount, are appreciated.
