By Times Staff Writer
Published January 5, 2008

Police have arrested a second suspect in a fatal home invasion robbery that took place in September. Gabriel Lamont Dixon, 21, of 1131 Carlton St., Clearwater, was charged with one count of first-degree murder Friday. At 3:41 a.m. Sept. 18, four people forced their way into 1307 Flagler Drive in what authorities say was a drug-related robbery. Two people were shot. Joseph Shaw, 22, died. Shawanda Larry, 39, was wounded. In November, Joseph Lee "Snoochie" Simmons, 21, was arrested in Georgia and charged with the shooting. Police said they used DNA evidence to make a case against Dixon, who was already at the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of violation of probation. He is being held at the jail without bail. Police are looking for two other people in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clearwater Police Department at 727 562-4422.

Do you know guy in vending thefts?

Pinellas detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a vending machine burglar. About 6 p.m. on Christmas Day, authorities said, a man vandalized a handful of coin-operated machines at Oldsmar Cleaners and Laundry, 3780 Tampa Road. Money was taken from a Ms. Pac Man game machine as well as a laundry bag vending machine. The vandal is described as a white man in his mid to late 30s, standing 6 feet, 1 inch tall, and weighing 240 to 245 pounds. He has brown hair and a distinctive full goatee. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Christopher Kirn at (727) 582-6200 or Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-873-8477.
