Club News: Mason's 70 years of service in honored

As one of his last acts as Worshipful Master of Dunedin Masonic Lodge 192, Chris Schlenker recently presented George F. Pichtwith his 70-year Masonic Service certificate and pin at The Gardens at Dunedin assisted living facility with many residents in attendance. Assisting in the presentation were Lodge Marshal Ken Giesow and Secretary Emeritus Rome Scerbo. Mr. Picht, 96, attained the degree of Master Mason on Nov. 18, 1937, at William F. Burke Lodge 230, Bogota, N.J. He became affiliated with Dunedin Lodge 192 on March 27, 1989. Arts and crafts show accepting entries "Joy of Creativity" is the theme for this year's arts and crafts show presented by The Woman's Club of Tarpon Springs at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 16 at Heritage Museum in Craig Park, 100 Beekman Lane, Tarpon Springs. A box lunch will be served at noon, followed by the club program. The judged competition will feature artwork, crafts and photography created by club members in 2007. All entries should be taken to the museum between 10 a.m. and noon Jan. 15. Photographs will be accepted on white mats only. Reservations for members are due by Wednesday. Colonial group event has medical theme The Berkeley Plantation Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII Century, will hold its winter meeting at noon Friday at Stacey's Buffet in Largo. The speaker will be Linda Neal, a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists, who will present a program on colonial apothecary. Members will bring items relating to colonial heritage, especially medical, for display. Women who are interested in historical colonial research and are lineal descendents of someone who lived and served before 1701 in one of the original colonies are invited to attend. Call (727) 531-2100. Kiwanis busy raising funds over holidays Members of the Kiwanis Club of the Palm Harbor Area were busy during the holiday season hosting two pancake fundraisers. The first was on Dec. 8 at St. Luke's Catholic Church and the second on Dec. 15 at Lake St. George Elementary School, Palm Harbor. Proceeds from both events will be used for each group's respective educational programs. Kiwanis members also threw a Christmas party for more than 60 preschoolers at the Tarpon Springs Head Start Center on Dec. 18. The children were able to visit with Santa and each received a handcrafted wooden toy.
