Seven Curves fitness centers in Pinellas County conducted a fitness study with 70 women who were not customers of the facilities. More than 60 percent of the participants lost weight during the test.
More than three-fourths of the participants indicated a marked increase in their perceived personal fitness levels.
The vast majority, 83 percent, indicated a positive change in energy levels. Results of the three-week study last October were analyzed by Dr. Karen Estes, a math professor at St. Petersburg College, and her students. The study also was an internal evaluation tool for the franchise owners in Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg, Seminole, Largo and Clearwater. A similar study will begin next month.
