SPRING HILL - As they settled into their couch to watch late-night television, Adneris Abrahante asked boyfriend Miguel Molina if he loved her. Yes, he said, "But just a little."
Molina said he was joking, but his girlfriend didn't see the humor and stabbed him twice, according to a police report. The subsequent lover's quarrel soon turned into a bloody scene on a Spring Hill street.
When it was all sorted out, Molina was taken to a hospital, Abrahante was taken to jail and their 13-month-old son was taken to a relative's home after being removed from what deputies described as filthy conditions at the couple's home.
Abrahante, 23, faces charges of aggravated domestic battery for allegedly stabbing Molina, 33, during an argument that started early Tuesday in their Spring Hill home.
Hernando County deputies found Abrahante and Molina arguing in the street near their home around 12:30 a.m. Molina's shirt was torn and he had a "large amount of dry blood on his body," according to the report.
Molina said that after Abrahante stabbed him, he ran from the home and headed for the nearby home of a relative. Deputies later found a bloody 5-inch-long knife in the dining room of the couple's home.
Molina was still being treated for a punctured lung at Spring Hill Regional Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The stab wounds weren't considered life-threatening and he said he expected to be released soon.
"I'm okay," Molina said from his room at the hospital.
Abrahante also went to the hospital Tuesday after telling authorities she had aggravated a back injury from a car accident years ago. She was soon released, arrested and transported to the county jail.
Abrahante remained at the jail Wednesday afternoon with a bond of $10,000. She is scheduled to go to court Feb. 5.
Deputies found the home at 6065 Spring Hill Drive to be "in filthy condition with bugs crawling in the kitchen and on the walls as well as the couple's child playpen," according to the report.
The Department of Children and Families Services was contacted and the child was placed with Molina's former sister-in-law.
On Wednesday, the gate in front of the couple's home was locked and no one appeared to be inside. All the blinds were closed and a couple of "for sale" signs were in the windows.
Carmen Diaz, a next-door neighbor and distant relative to Molina, said she wasn't sure that anyone would be living in the house again anytime soon.
"I think they're gone," she said.
