Hardship hearing set for Rogatkin
Calvary Christian senior Valentin Rogatkin will argue his case at a hardship hearing with the Florida High School Athletic Association today in Bartow.
In November, the FHSAA ruled Rogatkin temporarily ineligible pending an investigation by the FHSAA into whether he had already exhausted his eligibility.
Calvary Christian coach Dave Bintz said Rogatkin, a 6-foot-6 guard from Kazakhstan, moved from Russia in January 2007 and then enrolled in Tampa Baptist (now Tampa Bay Christian Academy). But after the team's coach left, he enrolled at Calvary this fall.

Teams: All 16 public schools in the countyAdmission: $4 per session
Schedule: The tournament starts at 3 today with the preliminaries, quarterfinals and first round of wrestlebacks. Wrestling continues Saturday with wrestlebacks at 9 a.m., followed by the consolations at 6 p.m. and the finals at 7.
Soccer star named to Disney Showcase
Tampa Prep's Wesley Sever was selected for Disney's Soccer Showcase all-star team, which will travel to England this summer to compete against teams from around the world. Sever, who plays for the Clearwater Chargers club organization, was among 18 players from the United States chosen. The team was invited by English Premier League club Chelsea to train for and compete in the inaugural Chelsea FC Youth Cup in August.
