Brown-Waite to cut ribbon for VA clinic

U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite will participate in the ribbon cutting for the second expansion of the Brooksville VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic from 9 to 10 a.m. today. The expansion gives another 1,100 square feet to the clinic for additional examination and treatment rooms. The VA clinic is at Pinebrook Medical Center, 14540 Cortez Blvd. For information, call Brown-Waite's office at 799-8354 or call the clinic at 597-8287.

Furniture needed for group homes

The Arc Nature Coast needs bedroom furnishings for group homes. Needed items include twin or single beds, dressers, chest of drawers and night stands. To obtain more information or to arrange a drop-off or pick-up, call Nancy Stubbs at 544-2322, ext. 109. The Arc Nature Coast is a nonprofit organization providing support for developmentally disabled Hernando County residents and their families.

Volleyball for girls 12 and younger

Club Hernando will have an informational meeting for girls 12 and younger interested in playing AAU volleyball. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Parrott Middle School, 19220 Youth Drive. For information, call club director Dena Frye at 398-8341.


Draw butterflies, birds to landscape

Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service will offer a free class, Landscape for Wildlife, at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Forest Oaks Government Center, 7479 Forest Oaks Blvd. Participants will learn which plants will attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
