Playground reopening is now Jan. 24

BROOKSVILLE
Because of unexpected delays, the playground at Ernie Wever Youth Park will not reopen this weekend as anticipated. The playground, which has been closed since Dec. 17 for the replacement of all playground equipment, is expected to reopen Jan. 24. The park is at 19473 Youth Drive, off Ponce de Leon Boulevard. For information, call the Hernando County Parks Maintenance Department at 754-4154.

A free one-hour class, Credit Card Awareness, is offered from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service, 19490 Oliver St. The class will offer insight on how to improve your financial health. To register, call Scott Taylor at 754-4433.
Dolls, bears and more at show
The Brooksville Woman's Club will host the annual Collectible Doll and Bear and Accessories Show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St. Applications are available for table rentals. The cost is $30 for the two days. General admission to the event will be $3 for ages 12 and older. Visitors will also be able to have their collectible dolls and bears appraised for $2 per item.
