Two-day event held to focus on manatees The Citrus County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Florida Manatee Festival being held today and Sunday in downtown Crystal River. The two-day event will feature arts and crafts, a manatee education program and manatee tours from a boat or by helicopter. This is the time of year manatees seek the warm waters of the intercoastal, especially in Hernando and Citrus counties. For information on the event, call (352) 726-2801. Dog show runs through Jan. 19 The Florida Classic AKC All Breed dog show started Thursday at Florida Classic Park (5360 Lockhart Road, Brooksville) and runs through Jan. 19. There will be breed classes and judging, including rally and obedience trails throughout the week. The final judging will be held Jan. 19. Vendors and a doggie fun zone will be at the event. The show runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Parking is $5, but there is no admission to the show. For information, call (813) 361-8402. Rodney Page, Times staff writer
