Board invites veterans to lead the pledge

Hernando County Commission Chairman Chris Kingsley is inviting veterans to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of each County Commission meeting. The commission meets at 9 a.m. the first, third and fourth Tuesdays and the second Wednesday of each month. Those interested may contact Dianne Cox at 540-6453. Commission meetings are in Room 160 at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., in downtown Brooksville.

Legislators want to hear from you

The annual public meeting of the Hernando County legislative delegation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday in the commission chambers at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Brooksville. Participating will be Reps. Robert Schenck and Ron Schultz, and Sens. Mike Fasano and Paula Dockery. The purpose of the meeting is to give county residents an opportunity to share their concerns with members of the state Legislature. Those wishing to address the delegation must contact Schenck's office to be placed on the agenda. Each speaker will be allotted three minutes. View exhibit, then meet the artists

A reception for the City Hall Art Gallery's Winter Exhibit will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 201 Howell Ave. The Hernando County Fine Arts Council will provide refreshments. Visitors will be able to meet the artists. The reception is free. The exhibit, which runs through Feb. 12, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
