Clubs and Organizations
Randy Sevald, who recently stepped down after nearly a decade as president of Interconnect Cable Technologies Corp., made his final donation to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office's Youth Education Service.
Sevald presented a $10,000 check to Sheriff Richard Nugent during a retirement ceremony for Sevald at the company's Airport Industrial Park location, south of Brooksville.
The tradition of donating to local service organizations began in 2005 when Sevald donated $5,000 each to the YES program, Hernando-Pasco Hospice and the Humane Society. As he continued to guide his company toward greater prosperity, the amounts grew.
According to new owner and president Sareet Majumdar and vice president Rick Osgood, the practice is expected to be carried on by the company's incoming administration.

Members of the Hernando Computer Club created an angel that was part of the Spring Hill Community Association's annual Angels on High outdoor holiday display. The angels are wooden cut-outs that are lit up in the treetops off Kenlake Avenue in Spring Hill.
Club members Nancy and Mike Sexton spearheaded the project. Their input, as well as angel images and ideas from Lorraine Backey, president Donald Karslake, Ron Purkhiser and Brigitte Haag, allowed the club's angel to join the "choir."
The angel they created was an elderly female with perplexing computer problems, sitting clueless on a cloud. Painters were: Haag, Backey, the Sextons and Paul Lutz. This was the first year the computer club participated in the event.
Notes of Thanks
Thanks to all who made the Brookridge "Playing for the Troops" event a success. The most effective way to find an audience for an event is great publicity. The advance newspaper coverage was excellent and most appreciated.
A capacity audience of more than 300 people attended. Their generous donations of money for the soldiers' care packages exceeded our expectations. Our cast and crew put on a fine evening of entertainment in the style of a USO show.
The Brookridge Pit Crew Band and the talented Brookridge performers gave fine performances. There are so many people to thank. Our Brookridge clubhouse monitors were very helpful, especially Maynard Morrison and Noel Hart. Clubhouse manager Bob Balistreri made sure all the details were just right. And the decorations were gorgeous.
So many wonderful people contributed to this event. I'd like to thank the Brookridge Dance Academy Dancers (Nichole Scarpelli, Jordan Krusey, Taylor Crisp and Skyler Dunham), TSC Tractor Supply, Carrabba's restaurant, Outback Steakhouse, Register Chevrolet, Biguns Barbeque, Papa John's, Chick-fil-A, Beacon Cinema, Shelby's Sweets and Treats, Jersey Cafe, Chatty Patty's and Starbucks for their generous help.
Thanks to the Brian R. Buesing Young Marines of Hernando County Color Guard and to Tim Plavko, the bagpiper, for the flag ceremony.
It would be totally impossible to thank each and every one in this letter. Brookridge is so fortunate to have such wonderful support both from inside and outside our gates. Each person who helped with "Playing for the Troops" is a star! Thank you all so very much for making my work chairing this event so easy.
