Anniversaries

The Salvaggios

Mike and Kay Salvaggio celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise to St. Maarten and St. Thomas. They were married Dec. 21, 1957, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., and came here in 1971 from West Hempstead, N.Y.

Mrs. Salvaggio worked in customer service at First Union Bank. Mr. Salvaggio worked in maintenance for the St. Petersburg Police Department. He served with the Eighth Air Corps during World War II.

They are members of St. Jude's Cathedral and have two children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Watsons

Cyrus and Neva Watson celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They were married Nov. 18, 1944, in Covington, Ky., and moved to St. Petersburg in 1987 from Dayton, Ohio.

Mrs. Watson is a homemaker. Mr. Watson retired from General Motors in Moraine, Ohio.

They are members of Tree of Life Church of God in St. Petersburg and have three children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Stewarts

Jim and Ida Stewart celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends at their daughter's home in Barkhampsted, Conn. They were married Sept. 25, 1947, in Chicago and have been coming to Gulfport as seasonal residents from Vermont for 15 years.

Mrs. Stewart was trained as a bookkeeper and was a homemaker. Mr. Stewart earned an engineering degree from Washington University and worked for AT&T. He is a Navy veteran of World War II. They have supported many environmental protection groups, political causes and civil rights organizations. They have four children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
