Hear some of the pros and cons about Florida's property tax reform amendment at the Largo/Mid-Pinellas Chamber of Commerce Business Luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cypress Palms, 400 Lake Ave.

State Reps. Jim Frishe R-Indian Rocks Beach and Janet Long (D-Seminole) will offer their thoughts about the amendment, which voters will decide on Jan. 29.

Critics of the amendment - including many state legislative leaders - argue the amendment barely scratches the surface of property tax reform. They say it also does little to address business properties.

The chamber's board of directors has agreed to remain neutral on the amendment, as have many business organizations throughout the state, despite lobbying efforts by Gov. Charlie Crist.

Cost to attend the luncheon is $10 in advance and $15 at the door for chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. To register, e-mail info@largochamber.org or call 584-2321.

Expo features forum on women in business

"Women In Business Forum & Expo: A Balancing Act" will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive. Admission is free.

The event kicks off with a motivational speakers' forum featuring 1999 Miss America Nicole Johnson, recent Emory University College of Law graduate Karly Schweitzer and Bevv Beirl, editor of Bay Area Business Magazine.

The Expo, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., will feature exhibits of Largo and Pinellas County businesses and organizations that interest women or include women as customers and clients. Many exhibitors will represent women-owned or managed companies.

Expo tables are available at $150 per table for chamber members and $200 for nonmembers. Sponsors include Old Harbor Bank, VIP Market Watch, The Largo Leader, Largo Cultural Center and High Velocity Entertainment.
